Optimization of Hydrolysis-Acidogenesis Phase of Swine Manure for Biogas Production Using Two-Stage Anaerobic Fermentation

چکیده

The traditional pig manure wastewater treatment in Taiwan has been low methane production efficiency due to unstable influent concentration, volume, and quality. Two-stage anaerobic systems, contrast, have the advantage of buffering organic loading rate first stage (hydrolysis-acidogenesis phase), allowing a more constant feeding second (methanogenesis phase). Response surface methodology was applied optimize operational period (0.5–2.0 d) initial pH (4–10) for hydrolysis acidogenesis swine (total solid 5.3%) at 35 °C batch operation mode. A methanogenesis verification experiment with optimal condition 1.5 d 6.5 using resulted peak volatile acid 7 g COD/L, (MPR) 0.3 L-CH4/L-d, yield (MY) 92 mL-CH4/g-CODre (chemical oxygen demand removed). Moreover, two-stage system including hydrolysis-acidogenesis reactor operating provided an average MPR 163 mL/L-d MY 38 mL/g solids, which values are 60% higher than those single-stage system; both systems similar dominant methane-producing species Firmicutes Bacteroidetes each having around 30%–40%. advantages fermentation treating biogas obvious.

Co-digestion of Olive Mill Wastewater and Swine Manure Using Up-Flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor for Biogas Production

Swine wastewater (SW) and olive mill wastewater (OMW) are two problematic wastes that have become major causes of health and environmental concerns. The main objective of the current work was to evaluate the efficiency of the co-digestion strategy for treatment of SW and OMW mixtures. Mesophilic batch reactors fed with mixtures of SW and OMW showed that the two adapted sludges Gadot and Prigat ...

Effect of Physical and Chemical Operating Parameters on Anaerobic Digestion of Manure and Biogas Production: A Review

Introduction: The need for food produced from animal husbandry has made it a growing industry which result in increment of livestock waste. On the basis of environmental and economic considerations, these materials require treatment and management. Anaerobic digestion and creation of biogas are the most effective methods of waste management. Several parameters affect the anaerobic digestion of ...

Anaerobic digestion of swine manure: Sung-Hwan farm-scale biogas plant in Korea

In order to increase the use of biogas plants in Korea, a farm-scale biogas plant with a working volume of 200 m was constructed at the pig farm in Sung Hwan, Korea as a demonstration project supported by the Korean government. This plant mainly consists of an anaerobic digester processing daily 10 m pig manure and a dual-fuel engine-generator to produce heat and electricity. Digestion takes pl...

Impact of Optimized Flow Pattern on Pollutant Removal and Biogas Production Rate Using Wastewater Anaerobic Fermentation

This paper introduces a new-type of antigravity mixing method, which was applied in the biogas production process, using organic wastewater fermentation. It was found that the digesters with two designs, a highposition, centralized pressure outlet and a high-position, dispersed pressure outlets, both lead to an increase in biogas production rates by 89% and 125%, respectively. The biogas produc...
